cannot change LOG file size

Hi Experts,

I have a SQL Server 2008 with some DB´s.
I want to change the LOG FILE size from 37 GB to 24 GB.
But this is not working.
Maybe it is a problem with the disk, because the Disk of the LOG FILES is full.
Can you give me  a hint to solve it ?

the log file can be shrinked by

USE yourDB;
GO
DBCC SHRINKFILE (YOURFILE, 24GB);
GO

Backup logfile, and then shrink

Backup Log yourDB TO Disk = 'D:\temp\myfileasa.bak'

 -- DBCC SHRINKFILE ( yourdb_log, 24GB )
