Move SCCM 2007 R2 Database (2005) to SQL Server 2012 R2 DB

I need to move the SCCM 2007 R2 Database on SQL Server 2005 to SQL Server 2012 R2 DB.  I am curious if the database will be compatible with the new SQL Server.  I see there is an hotfix after the upgrade of 2012,  Is that necessary to do it before the upgrade or afterwards?  Also is SCCM 2007 R2 compatible with ALWAYSON?  I appreciate the help, will reward points as soon as an acceptable solution is available.

    Accepted Solution

SQL comes with backward compatibility so there will not be any issues with that however since there is definition change in the new version hence the hotflix is required which you can apply afterwards.
And AlwaysON is feature for SQL2012 which does not have any relation with SCCM 2007 R2 so if it supports SQL2012 edition (Enterprise) than its ok.
