accessing computers on network

Installed three new HP computers with windows 7 professional. I have shared the required drive, granted permissions.  I can see all computers when I view network, however, when I attempt to open a folder on shared computer I receive a request to enter user name and password. I have entered present user information, but no access

Where are the files in the machine you are trying to access?  If in c:\users\otheruser then you may not be able to access.

Copy the files in the other machine to c:\temp and see if you can access these. Make sure c:\temp is permitted to Everyone for starters.

You may have a permission problem.

Created a new "Home Group" and "WorkGroup". Joined all units to same, now network is complete

So then the new Home Group and Workgroup resolved the permission problem referred to above.

This question is FOUR MONTHS old. It would help if you had responded earlier. No one can help if you abandon your questions.
