March 10, 2015 is the cut off date.....

Up to you really, you could wait for VMware vSphere 6.0 VCP.....(but you'll may need a course e.g. What's New!)

Any VCP 5.5 exam, so just the Pass the VCP5-DCV (VCP550) Exam. If you already hold the VCP5, you just need to pass another VCP550 exam, VMware will recommend the VMware vSphere: What's New V5.5 course, but I'm sure you can catch up with reading lots of documents, experience, using the product, exam blueprint etc

To recertify, you must pass any VCP or higher-level exam within two years of earning your most recent VCP certification.

Thanks so I should be good to upgrade my VCP5 cert to 5.5 without taking the mandatory class correct?

That is correct. Just need to do VCP550 (although VMware will recommend What's New, but it's only recommended, not a requirement to update your VCP 5.0 to VCP 5.5)
