Need to create SUMIF Array with multple criteria

Column (D) has single word vendor Names
Column's  (F through K) are types of purchase orders such as printing, medical, office supply, etc. and these cells have purchase order totals as dollar values

I am currently using the following formula to get a sum of purchase order totals for the Vendor name SME    {=SUM(IF(D4:D999="SME",F4:K999))}

How can I make a formula that will total purchase orders totals in cells F4:K999 that DO NOT MATCH three vendor names SME, STAPLES, SAMMONS?

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

It would be quite easy if you can create a new column that is the sum of columns F through K such as column L.  This would work in that case
