I have a Netapp CIFS storage shared to store users files. Now I have one requirement. I want to provide a group of users a shared folder with below permissions

1. Can edit file
2. Can create file
3. Can create folder
4. Can edit Folder
5. Should not delete file/folder

How I can do,

I tried to setup with advanced permission, I ticked Deny - delete files and delete folders, But If I do so, they can't modify the files also.

Any help is appriciated

    Accepted Solution

You will get this functionality with some limitations
You cannot rename files and folders unless you provide delete permissions

For Example users will not be able to rename files and folders once created in shared folder, if you want to create folder with custom name, you need to 1st create it on desktop and then need to copy at share location, however once files get created you can modify files contents

You can set permissions like below for users which should not be able to delete files and folder
    Folder Permissions
Remember, in order to work above, users must be having full control share permissions and NTFS permissions inheritance must be removed
    Check on test folder 1st
