I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

There should not be an embed option in that menu.
The option you're looking for is called "Edit document text". It won't appear if the document is protected.

You're sure you have Acrobat X? Our screenshots are different.

You probably need to click on "Edit text&images" on your version, then select the problem paragraph, right click it, select "Properties" and make sure that "Subset" is NOT checked.

Why is my preflight greyed out?

Can this be done in adobe acrobat or do I need another program?

There could be many reasons and solving this via screenshots is nigh on impossible. Firstly we need to identify if it is an issue with the PDFs or with the installation...

Can you post a test pdf in which this does not work?

All pdf
I will post a short less than 3 page test that I find on google

I can not even see the bottom tab 'print production'  currently (but I could previously)

Your pdf sample preflights correctly here. So that limits the solutions somewhat as it is not the file itself and it is not secured either.

Do you have Acrobat Pro XI or Standard XI? Preflight is not available in standard which may also explain why you are lacking other options....
