fire a select dropdown from an ajax function

I have a js funcion that calls an ajax routine (asp script) that works fine.

Is there a way to fire a select drop down from the ajax routine? After the asp runs

Yes... I neeed a select dropdown (<select><oprion.....></select>

To be created when the ajax finction is called.

To solve this all I can yhink of are frames wich I amsure it nt the bes way

mySelect.appendTo('element to add to');
