Windows 8.1 VPN - can connect but cannot ping or access shares

HI there, I have successfully setup a VPN between my Home W8.1 Pro Desktop and my Win8.1 Pro laptop testing with my andriod hotspot.

The connection works fine but I cant ping or access shares.

I have checked all permissions - OK have setup temp "Everyone" access on the folder to be shared.

Settings Other than defaults:

On the Host:
- Disabled IPV6
- Assigned IP Range rather than DHCP
- Setup users in the VPN Con
- Disabled Firewall and security
- Allowed access to LAN

On the client connection I have:
- Disabled Firewall and security

I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Machine a) (host) to machine b) (client - laptop) pings OK.

b) (laptop) to a) (Desktop - host) does not ping OK.

I have attached an ipconfig /all dump. This is from the  laptop (machine b)

Cheers Jason.

Hi,

Let me try and help you.

Firstly, I have to understand how things are setup.

Which computer is connecting to the android hotspot?
Is the wifi on your android device turned off (it should be)?
Can you VPN from your android device (with WiFi off) and browse your network?

Let's start there.

Hi there, sorry but I could not go on with this project - took too long for someone to get back.

Now I need to close it as I cannot use experts exchange and cannot. If I cant ask new questions when I have an abandoned question, my EE subscription is a waste of money and I may as well close it.

as per my post - the response took too long (more than 2 weeks) and the problem was resolved by someone else. Now I cant use my EE account. Not happy.
