Combine CSS

I have this tag:  { background-color: #000000 }

Not working. Any suggestions?

Where cat or dog tabs are, the background color is not black. But if I take out "" then dogs is black.

    You have to seperate the classes,  { background-color: #000000 }

    you forgot the "," after
