Polycom IP450 Phone unable to Factory reset due to lost Admin Password

After upgrading the firmware for a Polycom IP 450 phone we managed to lock ourselves out of the phone and are unable to reset the admin password.

We followed documented steps to press certain key sequences and enter the mac address in lower case which is supposed to reset the admin password to the default of 456  but have been unable to succeed.

Please do you have any idea, do we need a Polycom provisioning server or TFTP etc. setup to work around this issue?

I tried to see about how to reset it,, but from what I can tell your quickest way if you do not already have a provisioning server to update the file that the phone is already pointed to is to contact polycom support to walk you through it

I have found the solution.

What needed to be done, was to boot fresh without network connectivity.  Cancel the Start Up Application,  then hold the hotkeys for the phone  1-3-5-7  at the same time to get a special "Reset Password" prompt

then enter the phone MAC address, entering letters in the MAC using the lower-case letters.   Phone reset to factory admin of 456  after rebooting !  Sweet!

the trick was to enter the factory reset key sequence only after canceling the bootup application and booting the phone without network
