Using .net c# to build 2 separate websites and they both need access to a folder on the windows server which contains image files. So file reference would have to go to root and then out to folder ..root/sharedfolder/image/filenames.jpg

In addition whilst the websites are being developed, I would like to be able to access the folder but the local development doesn't use IIS, if that is used a s solution to first part.

Is there a better way than to set up the folder as a separate websites and reference access to the image files by reference to

Help very much appreciated

    Accepted Solution

I would look into using virtual folders

They're used to access folders that aren't always in your Web root, making them ideal for sharing content across sites

Thank you that link seems to cover the situation and the development machine uses Windows 7 pro so I will update to add IIS to work locally.
