Need lightweight textbox control with color coding capabilities

I'm looking for a lightweight textbox control, that has the capability to simply set the foreground color of text parts. In other words I want to write my own logic for color coding syntax and don't need or want heavy controls like Scintilla.

The control I seek must be as close to the standard textbox control as possible. It also must adhere to the different Windows styles. F.e. I could use the standard RichTextBox but that one is a bit too slow and doesn't look like a Windows 8 control on Windows 8.

If possible the control should be open source, but that isn't a strict requirement. If it can be done with a standard control then that would be my preference.

NB: I need a control for Winforms, not WPF.
