Windows 8 Turning Off

Hi my question would seem very easy to fix.  I have a machine running Windows 8 Embedded Industry Pro and it goes to sleep (I think it is sleep) after a period of time.

How can I stop this?

I have already disabled updates.
Turn off display: Never
Put the computer to sleep: Never
Advanced Power -> Hard Disk -> Turn off hard disk after -> Never
Advanced Power -> Sleep After -> Never
Advanced Power -> Display -> Turn off display after -> Never

ahhh!

Probably you need to set up a screen saver.
Its not sleeping but just going to a black screen because you have not set up screen saver.

Hope this helps.

you can use command line using powercfg tool to disable sleep option

c:\windows\system32\powercfg.exe -change -monitor-timeout-ac 0
c:\windows\system32\powercfg.exe -change -monitor-timeout-dc 0
c:\windows\system32\powercfg.exe -change -disk-timeout-ac 0
c:\windows\system32\powercfg.exe -change -disk-timeout-dc 0
c:\windows\system32\powercfg.exe -change -standby-timeout-ac 0
c:\windows\system32\powercfg.exe -change -standby-timeout-dc 0
c:\windows\system32\powercfg.exe -change -hibernate-timeout-ac 0
c:\windows\system32\powercfg.exe -change -hibernate-timeout-dc 0

Hi MIchael,

For got that one, I do have no screen saver,  the machine is definately going to sleep or powering off because it turns dead silent.

I just turned the BIOS to maximum performance, will see if that helps...

It may be going into hibernation mode so disable that also.

BIOS settings should also be checked.

Good Luck.

This is a win 8.1 issue not an hardware/bios issue.  I know this because i changed drives to an OS that is Win 8 and that OS does not turn off.....
