Chrome Browser Continuous Update to HTC One XL

Google Chrome Browser automatically begins to update on my HTC One XL (a Telstra Australia version I think). At the end of the download a message appears to say 'Insufficient Memory'.
I am using 4.5 of 24.5GB of storage and 650 of 777MB of RAM.
The update closes and shortly after begins again.
Any suggestions as to whether:
1. this is an Android problem / HTC problem / Chrome problem, or
2. Telstra Australia problem, and
3. how it may be overcome?

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.
