Optimize Blackberry Device battery and avoid getting stuck

Hi,

Is there any BES policy settings i can configure to improve the BB device battery backup time and to avoid the BB devices getting stuck or full.

I have major issues with my BB device across the organization with complaints regarding the battery and device getting stuck.

We use both BES 7 and 10.

Device getting "stuck" how?

You can prohibit Bluetooth and wireless. screen brightness..

After a few years, you can just buy a new battery to "improve" the battery life. I said "improve" with quotes, because they already decreased in quality over the years. You actually just get back the performance of a new battery.

Improve battery life as suggested by first poster (limit use of battery hungry stuff). The "avoid BB getting stuck" is really something you could clarify though, as I have no idea what that means (nor did the first poster).

Not really, could be anything. Could be a buggy BB OS, but also another app. If you have a two BB, both same OS, but one freezes (stuck), and one doesn't, you should compare the installed apps. If you uninstall the ones that are on the freezing BB and on the working BB, one by one, you might find out which app was responsible.

Even faster, if you have a spare BB, reset to factory defaults (full wipe). If that BB doesn't freeze, it's definitely an app causing this. Slowly install most used apps one by one (each day! don't install too quickly), and see when it starts freezing up on you.

^ He's right.. its the only real way to tell.. also try setting the BB up with no email functionality for a day or so on one of the buggy ones.. it may be the network is trying to connect to BES server and its looping in its tries..

so if you find a buggy one disable emails for a day or so and see if it unbugs itself..

I don't think there's much that can be done automatically to save battery life on BBs.  I've found mine runs noticiably hot if I use it as a Wifi hotspot, which therefore presumably canes the battery, so you could disable that too.  Usage in areas where there is weak signal strength is a drain too, as the BB has to "shout" to stay in contact.  However, this relies on users to manage these settings themselves.  I'd recommend latest firmware, of course.

The best option is a spare battery, and a charging caddy, so it can be charged outside the BB.

 - similar models are available for other batteries (with or without the Y-cable)

Uninstall all games, and block other installs, of course...
