Quick Books API

Is there a Quick Books API that can be used to synchronize a QuickBooks database on a Windows Server 2012 OS with a web server based MySQL Database?

We are presently running a Microsof Access set of Macros / Queries where the corresponding QB tables are references as external to the Access database. We synch once nightly using a Windows scheduled task to initiate the process. It's messy & fails under certain conditions.

It would be nice to synchronize "on the fly".

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

QuickBooks does have an API, although I haven't personally dived into using it, it is most definitely possible to interact with a QuickBooks database via a programmable API for the purposes of synchronizing or interacting with the data.

You need to join the Intuit Partner Program, and download and take a look at the QuickBooks Desktop SDK.

I have seen some references on the web to a php / Quickbooks integgration. I am very familiar with php. Does someone know about that? I saw a reference to an example of where a customer is created in a store (on-line), causing that same customer to be created in Quick Books.

We probably want the opposite; create a new QB customer, synchronize with the web by inserting in our web MySQL database.

But we need the reverse too; invoices are paid on-line, we would want those to update in QB instantly.
