What is the reason for Duplicate ICA sessions for a Citrix Published app?

Hello there,

What is the reason for Duplicate ICA sessions in App Center for a Citrix Published app? For example User A has 4 active session connected from the same PC to a same published app, and so do disconnected sessions.

Do you know why?

Please advise.

Thanks and Regards

Check the below EE answered question,

http://www.experts-exchange.com/OS/Microsoft_Operating_Systems/Server/Q_26237308.html

If users are connected to different application using the same session ID, then it means "Session Sharing" works perfect. This is how the feature works.

If user A connects to MS word on server A,, using session ID 123.. and opens another application MS Excel which is also published on Server A, B and C. then it should open on Server A provided u have application properties like color, screen are same.

In this case you will find

User A SessionID 123 MS word Server A
User A SessionID 123 MS Excel Server A

This is how the feature works and it's by design. And you will have only one Citrix license consumed in the above scenario.

Thanks for the info. But in my case, the user A has multiple ICA sessions for same application, when user clicks on the Published Application A icon quite a few times.

User A SessionID 10 App A 1.23 PM
User A SessionID 11 App A 1.24 PM
User A SessionID 12 App A 1.25 PM
User A SessionID 13 App A 1.27 PM
User A SessionID 14 App A 1.29 PM

I would like to know why this occurs?

Refer http://www.experts-exchange.com/Software/System_Utilities/Remote_Access/Citrix/Q_27795927.html thread

If you launch the excel application for the first time, it will create a session id say for example 001. This time you will see citrix client running logon scripts etc etc as you would see normally. Once it's completely launched, if you click the same application second time, it will open instantly. If server is full, then it may go to another server, where it will again load and may get another session id.

Coming to your question:

Yes, if you click same application 4 times , you will see 4 sessions in the delivery console but with same session id 001(example).

Thanks @Manjunath Sullad. In my case as explained above, user A has multiple ICA sessions for same application, on the same Citirx server.  Not sure how?

User A SessionID 10 App A 1.23 PM
User A SessionID 11 App A 1.24 PM
User A SessionID 12 App A 1.25 PM
User A SessionID 13 App A 1.27 PM
User A SessionID 14 App A 1.29 PM
