how do you rearrange fields in the GAL exchange 2010?

I'd like to be able to rearrange the order of the fields in the GAL to make it more useful throughout our organization. Is this possible, and if so, how?

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Do you mean the GUI for the Address Book in Outlook or something else?

You can modify the user/contact template via the Exchange Management Console. Go to Toolbox>Details Templates Editor.

For example, if I open Outlook and hold CTRL+SHIFT+B to bring up the GAL, the columns from left to right are listed Name, Title, Business Phone, Location, Department, E-mail Address, Company, Alias. I'd like to rearrange those columns and reorder them, NOT the properties of the user's address card. Hope that makes more sense.

Unfortunately, as far as I know, you can modify that... only the details portion of the template =(
