SCCM Client

When I try to install anything from SCCM, the message "This computer is not yet a client. Software will not install until the SCCM client is installed." appears.

I have no idea but some times i feel strange about these issues.
I am very glad that experts are helping me in every situation.

Thanks.

Hi Venkatspb,

Have you looked through TechNet?

This is a great starting point for me when I troubleshoot client issues.

Strange thing I have found whrn I try to ping the machine.
I can ping using IP address and it gives a machine name suffixed with some number.

But If i ping with the Machine name it shows a different IP and request time out.

I think there might be issue with the DNS entry.  Please see the attached screenshot and correct me if I am wrong.

Ping Data
Thanks,
Venkat

it seems on machine you have 2 Ip addresses..

check wether u have 2 lan's enabled

or  on 1 lan there are 2 IP's

Lan properties. - Tcp/ip version4 - properties - Advance here y'll find the IP's

disable the IP V6 on the client using IP V6 fix

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929852

log on to DNS and check the forward and reverse lookups
A host records if there any more binded accept the  machine name .. then delete them...

restart the client machine

and check
all the best
