Server Reboot time keep changing

hi Experts,

My server reboot time keeps changing.
E.g. Couple of days ago when I typed in systeminfo in command prompt, it showed me the time as
System Boot Time:          27/07/2014, 10:48:45 PM
When I checked it today it is showing the system reboot time as
System Boot Time:          27/07/2014, 10:53:40 PM

Time on the VM itself is accurate as far as I can see.

I have lot of scripts which are associated with the system boot time. Can you help me fix the issue?

Thanks in advance.

    Accepted Solution

I suspect the time on the server was changed. I believe the server really only tracks uptime, and systeminfo computes backwards with the current time/date and uptime to report the system boot time.
Can you filter the windows system event log for event 4616, and see if you can find any time changes on the server.

    Assisted Solution

boot time is a calculated value, not a pre-set variable. your system time is changing.
This isn't anything to be concerned about as such as many systems tend to run a little slow/fast, but 5 minutes in a few days is a bit more than would be 'normal'.

check the BIOS battery to see if its given up, but otherwise there may not be anything specific you can do as the boot time value isn't fixed and often changes over time.
