"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

There are plenty of CD ripping tools around. Some are built into many OS. What OS are you using? On Windows for example the media player can do this. Or another tool is fre:ac or CDEx:

As I mentioned above you can use your built-in media player for that. Under "Options", you have a rip tab, and there you can select where the ripped files should go, and what format you want them in.

Can you direct me how to to get there? (i.e. options)

I make sure the media player menu bar is visible (press ctrl+m). Then click on "Tools", "Options" and then select the "Rip Music" tab...

But where do you go from there?

You insert the CD, select it, then select the tracks you want, and click on "Rip CD", or if you first want to refine your settings, click on "Rip settings", where you again can select the type of rip, audio quality etc again, before you click on "Rip CD". After that it just starts ripping it.
