Chrome history not working correctly

When clearing history, at the top of the history it shows two computer names I've used through time.  One of them was for my laptop which I've renamed, but in the history for Chrome, it retains the old name and never goes away.  Is this a registry problem?  Is this a sync issue?  I've cleared history each use, modified all signed in devices and logged off each of them but this glitch remains. Using Windows 7 all updates current.

Thanks.  If more clarification is needed, please advise.

Did run ipconfig /release .. flushdns as well as renew many times, none of which remove the old name.  Not finding the hosts file, is it hidden?  It's been a while since I've dealt with this stuff.    What I did find interesting while at the cmd prompt was a folder called TEMP. with that name, in the APP DATA and ns user files (hidden and locked, in case that is the problem.

One other issue that "may" be cause.  Windows will not allow this computer to leave the Homegroup, even after I stop and disable both related services.

Homegroup fiasco continues, but the problem in Chrome was rectified by your recommendations on the dns side and by uninstalling and reinstalling Chrome and ensuring that the sync options were modified to fit our needs.

Thank you ...

Hosts file never found; but as i stated above, sync was incorrectly set for our needs.
