Excel 2010 not allowing me to paste with functions

In Excel 2010, when I try to do a copy and paste from one workbook to another, I get the message you see in the first screen capture of the attachment explaining that I will not be able to paste the functions only the values. In the second screen capture of the attachment is a listing from the task list of what I have running and as you can see it is showing 2 different icons for XL 2010. But I am trying to paste from the Main Trust workbook to the July 2014 workbook when I get the error message. Why am  I getting 2 different sets of icons, and since I am not in protected view, that I know of, I don't see anything stating such in the title bar or anywhere, am I not able to paste formulas or functions from one workbook to another?

I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

You will be able to do that if your workbooks are opened in the same instance of excel. My guess is you have two instances of excel running, leading to excel not recognizing your paste as an excel input.

Close one of the workbooks and reopen it using file open (or Ctrl+O) from the other workbook. Your paste will most likely work fine after that.
