Restart sequence for Tomcat

Hi,

I would like to ask the startup or stop sequence for Apache & Tomcat. Is there any sequence which one should be start or stop first? Should start Apache then Tomcat or vice versa. Please help.

Thanks.

By "Apache" do you mean Apache Web Server? There are many Apache things, in fact Tomcat is actually Apache Tomcat, so I'm just clarifying what you are asking? If so, are you saying the Apache Web Server is the frontend for receiving HTTP requests that are then forwarded to Tomcat for processing via a connector like AJP, etc?

If so, then NO, it shouldn't matter at all which one is started first. We have a similar setup at work, and we can start in any order. Also, we can restart either service independently of the other and then once they are both up, everything works fine.

That is Apache httpd server. We want to stop and start both. Will it make any difference?

I know some companies using only Apache or Tomcat. Some companies may use both.
