"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Depending on the version of Windows you're running, Bitlocker might  be what you're looking for. It's not going to pass the true tinfoil hat test because it's made by Microsoft and not subject to open source scrutiny, but it's a pretty solid solution both for encrypted file containers and full disk encryption.

So basically truecrypt is dead and shouldnt be used any more. There are loads of posts and conspiracy about what happened and why. We currently run PGP encryption for a company of approximately 2000 users. We have had it running for about 4 years now and have never had a problem with it. Upgrades are quite easy as well as password resets/unlocks.

There are many options, I suggest you start with my article here: http://www.experts-exchange.com/Security/Encryption/A_12134-Choosing-the-right-encryption-for-your-needs.html
The article lists many options, both hardware and software. BitLocker does sound like a fit for you if you have windows 7 Enterprise or Ultimate, win8.1 Pro or enterprise.

You will be back in another month, I guess :)
I just wanted to add a small question: what bad experience did you have with TC or symantec's product (which product, by the way)? Knowing that will help find a suitable solution, maybe.
