Windows cannot be installed to this disk - MBR partition, EFI systems GPT disks

I am trying to install Windows server 2012 (to evaluate) on a secondary hard disk of my computer which is running Windows 8. The hard disk is formatted 1 TB disk, with nothing on it. this is what i get:
Windows cannot be installed to this disk. The selected disk has an MBR partition table. On EFI systems, Windows can only be installed to GPT disks.
What do i do? thank you!

Check the format of the disk, it needs to be NTFS.

if you just want to evaluate, why not install native virtualization support in windows 8 and run 2012 in it that way?

I really want it on the separate disk

I got it - had to use diskpart to convert it to gpt and it worked.

Or you could simply delete the partition from this drive. Then the Windows installation wizard would convert the drive automatically onto GPT format. You simply point it to free space on the drive (no partition yet created) and it does all on the fly.

I did delete the partition, the only way i could install it was using diskpart and converting it to GPT manually.
