Mapping data onto UK's 12 regions

I have some data on UK regional level that I need to graph onto the UK map with 12 regions. I was able to do a "finer" map on UK postal area level because I was able to find the polygon shapefile for that, but somehow I haven't been able to find the shapefile for the 12 regions like this one

and the chart that I want to create is something like this (albeit for a different country)

My goal is to create such a map for UK regions. Anyone know of any software (commercial or open source) that can do this quickly? I know R has a package but I don't know much about R. Many BI software such as Tableau come with US maps, but not UK regions.

I would appreciate any suggestions on this. Thanks

If you already have data that is identified by administrative region then have a look at iMapBuilder which have pre-built thematics, they sell a cut down version of their $3k program with specific maps so you can get a UK package with the mapping package for a single user for the equivalent of $200.  (They have a free trial download but it's US map based).

There are probably other commercial solutions (!)

Of course in theory you can build thematics like you need in Excel by creating polygons and then applying conditional formatting, but if it was as easy as the online tutorials suggest they would be widely available.  Depending on your Excel skills you might want to have a go at mapping NI into North and South and I suspect very soon the cost of a commercial package will seem very reasonable indeed!

If you want to try the Excel option then you'll need a .WMF.  Here's a free-to-use example (but UK Counties not admin regions - although co-terminus) at least might be something to have a "play" with!

Thank you MASQ. I'll definitely reach out to imapbuilder and see if they offer what I need. I'll keep the question open a bit longer, just in case someone else knows other commercial solutions.
