365 integration in with Windows Server Essentials

I did integrate 365 with Server Essentials, everything works OK, but what I didn't expect is the user account created is also creating a user in AD.

I thought that the 365 integration only managed the cloud without Active Directory and that the dir sync with be in use with AD.

So, why does the integration create a user in AD?

(AD integration is turned off in the cloud and also some of the 365 subscription don't support AD integration)

Hope it make sense

If the integration didn't manage AD, it'd be no different than using a browser to create accounts in the 365 portal. The *point* of integration is that it integrates AD and 365 so you don't have to create an account twice.

365 integration in essentials and dirsync both do very similar things now. But as you mentioned, dirsync does not work with some small business plans. The essentials integration does. You choose one or the other to do the job, and which one you pick is dependent on your plan and the details of the features...which ARE slightly different. But overall tall, they are more similar than not.
