how to setup hmailserver

I just installed hmailserver in a windows 2003 server.  I am trying to set it up to use smtp.gmail.com so that we can send emails from an application using this server. I put in my gmail account and for smtp :smtp.gmailcom. Nothing works. Could someone please help me setup this hmailserver. I am trying to test it first with outlook express but it  fails.  This is coming from a network very limited. We only connect from the outside using vpn through a dsl line(bellsout.net).  We never used email before on this network.

I've found the support for hmailserver to be pretty good.  Setting up is easy but to know what's what one would have to know the particulars of your settings.

You send the mail to the IP address of the computer running hmailserver.
You send the mail using port 25.
You set the hmailserver to use the settings for a real user and the required settings for your outside mail server.
Settings/Protocols/SMTP/[tab]Delivery of email under SMTP relayer.

Then hmailserver acts as an SMTP relay.
