we have about 10 dell printers on our network and i am looking for a free GUI that i can check and alert me if there is an error/ jam etc. on the printers. i know i can configure each printer to email me however trying to find a solution that would not clog up my mailbox.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Check out Spiceworks for monitoring your printers and getting alerts.  It is a free program that allows you manage devices on your network including printers, computers, servers, network equipment, routers, etc.  It has a decent dashboard where you can see all your devices in one place.  They do have many ads within the program, but what do you expect for free.  They also have an ad free version which you can inquire about.  There are paid monitoring tools as well from AVG (aka Level Platforms) and N-able which you can review as well.
