Video Interfaces for my PC - HDMI or DVI?

I have to hook up a monitor to my pc.
Is there any qualitative difference between the HDMI and DVI interfaces?
I know that HDMI can carry sound,  Is the sound better quality than the regular  mini jacks in the back of my pc?

If you've got Blueray or HDMI content then HDMI is the way to go.  If you are just playing standard DVD movies then either will suit your purpose.

Sound quality will be just the same for standard DVD movies.

Hi Dbrunton:
How about doing work (MS Word, Excel, PPT, Access)? or watching YouTube?  YouTube Hi Def?
Either would be OK.

No difference in sound quality using the sound ports on the PC.
Hi brothertruffle880
HDMI VGA DVIIs there any qualitative difference between the HDMI and DVI interfaces?  yes there is some, HDMI or high def 1080i  has more clarity, and is smoother, feels immersive visually and should played on large screens.
but not really that important in my humble opinion depends the source of you video as well.
Stereo on a PC is ample enough unless you get 5 speaker set for PC
The quality of the sound depends on what type of speakers you have, how many you have,  4 or 5.
With the right speakers HDMI sounds usually has 5.1 or 7.1 surround sound.
These speakers must be connected to your S/PDIF out  or digital to get the extra surround sound from high def video
