Hello,

I have recently discovered that we have a lot of strange email addresses in our Exchange 2010.  I found this out during a simulated LDAP synchronization with GFI Mail Essentials Online.   Here is a sampling of some of the email addresses:

globalevents2@calvaryspringfield.org
globalervent5@calvaryspringfield.org
publicfolder47223027@calvaryspringfield.org
proceeds5@calvaryspringfield.org
controls@calvaryspringfield.org
globalevents7@calvaryspringfield.org
microsoft2@calvaryspringfield.org
exchangev12@calvaryspringfield.org
internal4@calvaryspringfield.org

These users do not show up in the Active Directory Users MSC.
Any ideas what they are?   Please advise.  Thanks.

Most of those are public folders, specifically public folders. The only one that I don't recognise is the "proceeds5" address. You can search the domain to see what object the address is attached to.

This should work to find the address:

Get-Recipient -resultSize unlimited | select name -expand emailAddresses | where {$_.smtpAddress -match "user@example.com"}

Then do
get-recipient name

 to see what the object is.

Simon.
