Passwod reset on a Windows 8 computer

I am trying to gain access to a windows 8 computer for a client after their employee left. I have tried all the tools I know of to gain access to the SAM to remove the password, but I can't see the Windows partition because to boot my tools they use legacy and Windows 8 uses UEFI.

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

If it is a domain-joined machine you can simply log in as a different user, than add that user to the local admin group which will allow you to view the profile data of the original employee.

If it is not a domain-joined machine, you could also login utilizing a different Microsoft account (@Live, @Hotmail, @MSN, @Outlook, etc.).

From this company, but not free although you get a lot of tools including the password reset tool.

Super easy to use and create a bootable thumb drive with the utilities on the USB drive...boots into a Windows GUI.

KonBoot will do it..
Works on Windows 2k - 8.1
Works on Server hardware as well, and allows you to build in the RAID controller drivers.. so you can really use it on any PC or server.
