I am running Red Hat 6.x

Does that come with a standard LDAP, or do I have to download it

If so where can I download?

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Like practically all software installed on Linux distributions, you use the distro's package manager to download and install it. This automatically takes care of any dependencies that may also be needed. On redhat that would be

yum install PackageName

(in your case the PackageName would probably be "Openldap".
LDAP server is in "openldap-servers" package:
# yum install openldap-servers
