this program has not helped me once.

I have no experience with Smart File Advisor.

You should be able to remove from Control Panel|Programs and Features.
My reaction is that you should not need this program if you have the appropriate association for each file extension set in
Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Default Programs\Set Associations
So I would not think you would want an alternative, either.

But I do not find any indication that it is malware.

you are welcome, but I would not think the "should I remove it  tool is needed.
