today I tried to print a pdf file with my Lexmark 2600 series ink jet printer. &nbsp;Part way through the printing job the printer just stopped. &nbsp;I had to reboot the computer to delete the print job and then I uninstalled and reinstalled the printer twice. &nbsp;The problem is still there. &nbsp;It prints the first 4-6 pages of a 21 page pdf and then it just stops printing. &nbsp;I then tried to save the pdf file to my pc and print from there. &nbsp;It did not solve the problem. &nbsp;What might be the cause of this situation and how do I resolve the problem? &nbsp;Do I need to purchase a new printer?<br />

A printer is a peripheral which makes a persistent human readable representation of graphics or text on paper or similar physical media. Traditional printers are being used more for special purposes, like printing photographs or artwork, and are no longer a must-have peripheral; 3D printing has become an area of intense interest, allowing the creation of physical objects. An image scanner is a device that optically scans images, printed text, handwriting, or an object, and converts it to a digital image. Hand-held scanners, where the device is moved by hand, have evolved from text scanning "wands" to 3D scanners used for industrial design, reverse engineering, test and measurement, orthotics, gaming and other applications.

Printers and Scanners

A peripheral device is defined as a computer device, such as a keyboard or printer, that is not part of the essential computer (i.e., the memory and microprocessor). These auxiliary devices are intended to be connected to the computer and used in conjunction with it. Examples of external peripherals include mouse, keyboard, printer, monitor, external Zip drive or scanner, while internal peripherals include CD-ROM drive, CD-R drive or internal modem. Today's new devices, such as tablets, smartphones and wearable computing devices are considered peripherals as they can be connected and used on a computer system. The difference, however, is that these devices can run independently of the computer system.
