printing a pdf with a lexmark printer

today I tried to print a pdf file with my Lexmark 2600 series ink jet printer.  Part way through the printing job the printer just stopped.  I had to reboot the computer to delete the print job and then I uninstalled and reinstalled the printer twice.  The problem is still there.  It prints the first 4-6 pages of a 21 page pdf and then it just stops printing.  I then tried to save the pdf file to my pc and print from there.  It did not solve the problem.  What might be the cause of this situation and how do I resolve the problem?  Do I need to purchase a new printer?

Restart the computer and try printing on another printer. If the PDF (large) prints elsewhere, then the printer may need more memory and/or it may be defective.
