Install issues Sharepoint 2013 - new machine/sp install

I am pretty frustrated.. I have a SQL 2008 R2 server on a separate machine.. on my new machine it is a Windows 2012 install with all updates.  I then in this order :

Sharepoint 2013 sp1 Prerequisite install
Run updates
Sharepoint 2013 install cancel wizards
run updates
Run Farm configure wizard (also have found step by step install services one by one) with SP service accounts that are not Local Admins
run updates
run new site collection

I always get 6398 errors on the newfeeds updating - This is a new fresh install why on earth would there be issues right out the gate?

I also try to install the Workflow service.. go through the download and wizard.. run the Register-SPWorkflowService -SPSite command.. but I get can communicate issues or token issues..

Again.. this isnt an install that is done over time.. this is fresh everything install and following guides and videos and it still wont work.

Is there something I am overlooking?

6398 errors generally refer to permissions issues. Check out this MSDN blog post for more details, specifically how you can further diagnose the error utilizing Get-SPDiagnosticsProvider Cmdlet - http://blogs.msdn.com/b/kaevans/archive/2012/02/09/sharepoint-error-6398-you-do-not-have-permission-to-run-sp-trace-create.aspx

Are you using the new SharePoint 2013 ISO setup file with SP1 included?

I hope this can help.

Yes I downloaded the installer with SP1 from the VL site.

Well I ended up using AutoSPInstaller & AutoSPInstallerGUI to configure everything.. worked well.. had some issues in the event log that I was able to correct.  But this seem the best way to go about it.
