Has anyone had luck enabling sound on an ESX Mac OSX install using USB Dongle or other methods?

I was thinking about getting a small server with ESX and virtualizing a Mac OSX install. I'm assuming that since Mac switched to Intel, this would be far easier to do. I've been reading about it and it seems sound is an issue. Does anyone know a work around since it's officially not supported by VMWARE? Maybe a usb audio unit or some other magic? Anyone had luck?

    Accepted Solution

If you DO NOT have Apple Mac Hardware, you cannot do it!

Apple OS X can only be installed on Apple hardware.

So is your ESXi server - Apple ?

It's Against the EULA, if the hardware is not Apple.

and as such we (Experts) cannot discuss this on EE.

We have Mac OS X running on Apple Hardware with ESXi, with no issues. (it's supported on Mac Pro, and XServe)

To install ANY Apple OS on NON Apple hardware is still a breach of the Apple license terms.
