how do i fix download management driver missing ?

Hi, my laptop runs with windows 7 premier. The problem I have is when I bought the laptop from ebay  I noticed in the device and printers that there was a biometric coprocessor ? and there was an amber triangle on user pc, I then ran  a troubleshoot on user pc and it found that there was drivers missing, I was prompted to download repair and restore which I did but half way through download an error came back saying download failed error 28 ? is it essential to have a biometric coprocessor or can I delete it from my laptop ? I just want to be able to download and be a happy man again Thank You    J.Stalker

Maybe you share laptop model from silver label on the back of the laptop? There are various biometric (fingerpprint reader) devices.
Also can you post picture of "winver" window? There is no windows premier release.

I have  a Toshiba Tecra M5 laptop which runs on windows 7 there has also been a biometric coprocessor installed in devices and printers. When I try to upgrade my laptop to windows 8 the download keeps failing. so I ran troubleshoot and found that there were drivers missing, so how do I rectify this issue if I can't download solution ?
Under security drivers you need one or other fingerprint drivers.
BTW Windows 8 is not supported by toshiba on your computer.

you can always do a factory reset; here a thread that covers it :
He has non-toshiba Windows7
what does that mean???

First, forget Windows 8. Toshiba does not support it on that model.
Second if you have problems already, you can't upgrade anyway.

Can I ask a simple question: Is your laptop working fine, if you ignore/forget the amber triangle?

With regards the "biometric coprocessor" - unless you really want to be able to logon using your fingerprint you can safely and happily relax and forget about it. It has no effect on using the laptop. It's sole purpose is to avoid typing a password to logon or in software.

If that *is* the only error you have, then you can be a happy man

If not, then you please give more detail. You mentioned two things:
download repair and restore failed   -  I don't know what that is. Download what? Do you mean "System Restore"?
drivers missing            -  so not just the biometric is missing

PS: yes you can download the biometric driver, but I would not bother; life's too short.

Hi Mike at last somebody that speaks my language, the problem I'm having is there is a pnp device driver missing, for example I tried to download  bearshare  and as it was downloading a warning came up that the download failed, other than that the laptop runs fine but I do like to burn music off from downloads. Can you put me in the right direction  cheers J. Stalker

Hi again,

For any device driver that's missing always stick to the manufacturer's website. You've no idea what the download bearshare really is. It could be malware and from what I've seen it often is.

So, what you need to do is get a pen and paper and write down the following values for the missing driver, Click on properties and then click the details tab. In there click on the Property drop down. Choose hardware IDs.
Write down the vendor and device ID numbers you see.

where VEN_1969 = vendor
and DEV_2062  = device

ignore the rest :).
Now go to and enter those values (just the numbers) in the search bar and it will tell you exactly what the device is.
It comes up as 0x2062        Qualcomm Atheros AR8152/8158      0x1969      Atheros Communications.
which is correct. It's an Atheros network card.

Now go to which is the M5 driver page (and given above by another expert already). Look for the device name for Windows 7 and download it.
If it's still the biometric thing, then click security and look there. Fingerprint sensors are UPEK but normally need software to work with the sensor. You have to teach it your fingerprint for at least one finger

Alternatively you can go to which kind of collects drivers from many manufacturers to let you download "latest" one.
(it is long journey to see if you have MIMO and/or HT wireless-N card and OEM drivers dont help.
if you have  unknown devices in device manager, you can use this procedure to identify them :

1- visit the motherboard manufacturers support site, for downloading drivers
2- use windows update >optional updates to find them

3- Start>Programs>Accessories>System Tools>System Information.
Now select  "Components" and highlight "Problem Devices".
All hardware devices with a driver problem will be listed here.
Make a note of the first line of the PNP Device ID line of the entry. It will show a Vendor number and a Device number (VENxxxxDEVxxxx) both four digits long.
Look up those numbers here:

This will tell you the manufacturer and the chip number.
Check the manufacturer's website first or google them - or post them here

4- If your LAN is running, you can also use windows update> optional drivers, or  use slimdrivers :
