Barcode font prints intermittently on HP 401m printer

We have four HP 401m printers, 2 at each location.  For some reason only one location will not always properly print the barcode.
We are using Citrix to connect to the database that has the reports with the barcode font.  The font is installed on the Citrix server.
We are also using a PrintServer at both locations.  I was wondering if the barcode font needs to be installed on the print server?
I was also wondering if installing the barcode font to the printer might help.
At the location that is intermittent, I had them print from two other computers to a different print and both printed fine.  Hence my suspicion that it it printer related.

Any help will be appreciated.

The barcode font does not need to be installed on the print server. In fact doing so serves no purpose at all. However, if you are using the Windows driver to print it does need to be installed on every PC that needs to print barcodes. The driver should then be set to download fonts as softfonts, rather than using printer fonts.

If you are not using the Windows driver, then the issue is completely different, and you may want to install the barcode on the printer itself.

When you say "Windows" driver do you mean a generic driver?
If I install the driver on the computers, how do I set it to download fonts as softfonts?

No, not the Generic/text only driver, which does not support barcode fonts (it prints TEXT only). I'm talking about the driver that comes with the printer.

To set  the driver to download fonts, you need to look through the available options under Printer Properties. It is probably located under the Advanced tab in Printing Defaults (itself found by clicking the Advanced tab, and then the Printing Defaults button in Printer Properties). There should be a setting for TrueType fonts that can be either "Substitute with Device Font" or "download as Softfont". If the font is installed on the Citrix server, you should copy it to the PCs as well, to make sure it's available.

If you are using the Generic driver, then you will have to install the font on the printer, and work out what commands the printer requires to use it. It's not a simple job to make that work with an application.

Installing the font on the PC worked.

Thanks
