I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

I would recommend using the free secure lastpass addon http://www.lastpass.com and not use the windows password manager

What browser is it? Internet Explorer's password management has never been state of the art. Chrome's for example is absolutely reliable.

I don't know why firefox should malfunction here, the password manager is not known for being bad. But it has nothing to do with the OS. So either change your browser or use a password management application as suggested.
