pdf's open slowly in outlook

I have 6 users who have been experiencing extreme slowness while opening PDF attachments within Outlook 2007 and 2010.

I have removed obsolete printers, cleaned out useless Outlook add-ins, and set Adobe reader to "LAN" speed.  I also unchecked Adobe setting "enable enhanced security", and checked "Automatically trust Sites with OS".

Any suggestions are appreciated, I'm at my wit's end with this one.  Thanks.

Hi,

It may not be outlook, it could be another program running in the background that is trying to perform work.

I would look at all your background processes and remove unessecary ones. (do a backup before you attempt this)

open start->type in 'msconfig' into the search bar

opening msconfig and navigate to the the startup tab

remove all programs on start up except the core programs needed such as antivirius, drivers etc. i would pull up google and do a quick search to see if each process is needed at start up. if not remove it and the computer will start the program once a user request is made to open an associated program

restart the computer after and see if the problem still exists on a known slow pdf

That did the trick.  Thank you for your help.  I was pulling what little hair I have left out.  My users are now happy as PDF's once again open quickly.
