Looking for software that searched for hundreds of documents with keywords and print the results

I am searching for software that will search through several hundred PDF documents and look for key words. When the results are shown I would like to be able to print just the pages that had a keyword hit. I would like to do this all at once and not page by page printing.

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Your requirement is similar, although not identical, to the one in this EE thread:
http://www.experts-exchange.com/Software/Server_Software/Document_Management/Q_28084148.html

I wound up creating a custom program for Gordon that does exactly what he was looking for, and that program could certainly be modified to print (or extract) the pages with hits in order to meet your requirement. However, EE's Terms of Use/Code of Conduct prevent members from promoting in any way or offering to sell any goods or services for any commercial purpose. So the best thing to do is communicate with me via the Hire Me button in my profile, which EE created for this very purpose. Regards, Joe

Hi dschneider6673,

A few questions for you on the specifications required:

(1) Does the program have to print or is it acceptable to create a new PDF file with just the pages that have a keyword hit? Then you can print from that new file or do whatever you want with it.

(2) If you must print, should it be to the default printer or a specific printer? Or should the user be able to select which printer?

(3) Do you want a choice of case sensitive or case insensitive searches, or should it always be one or the other?

(4) Are the "keywords" a single word (or phrase)? If not, do you need Boolean searches (AND, OR, NOT)?

(5) Depending on your answer to (4), are you ok with using a Regular Expression (RegEx) rather than Boolean for complex searches?

Regards, Joe

1.) It is acceptable to create a new PDF to print

2.) that doesnt matter either way is acceptable

3.) I would like a choice if possible

4.) Sometimes its just keywords and sometimes I need an AND or Not

5) I am ok with just regular

How much is this going to cost first of all. I appreciate the response

We cannot talk about cost in an EE thread. That is a violation of EE's Terms of Use/Code of Conduct. However, you may contact me at the email address in my profile (EE permits that). Right now, I'm just trying to get a handle on your exact requirements/specifications. Regards, Joe

Post https:#a40299634 explains how to do what the asker wants and deserves to be the Accepted Solution, imo (I even wrote a demo program that does most of what was specified in the asker's last post). Also, Document Imaging, Document Management, and OCR would be better Topics for this question than Software-Other, imo. Regards, Joe
