Unable to edit NAS content from WD TV Live

I've connected one Shuttle KD20 & one KD22 to my WDTV Live media player; though I can access & read files I need to use the "Move &/or Delete" functions of WDTV player
these features work very well for any storage connected through the USB port/s on the media player but not for the NAS
I need a workaround for this
the exact problem is -
I can access the NAS to select the source folder/file for copy/move/delete but no device is visible for destination

AFAIK with the current firmware you can only use file management to move or copy to a local drive not a network share.

That's the behaviour I'm seeing on my Gen 2 HD - which is pretty much your story.

This thread on their forum suggests it's not a feature that's going to get added.

Deletion should be possible though (if you select with the right-arrow button before pressing the Option button)

Otherwise you're stuck with a workaround by copying through a file browser on a computer

hi MASQ, apologies for not having responded
have been looking at a custom firmware at wdlxtv.com; apparently it does the job; trying to work it out hence didn't respond

the custom firmware apparently does the job but it's my NAS which isn't allowing the nfs
found another media player Xtreamer that can read/write on my NAS Omninas Shuttle under the Network though not in the NFS option; it's doing the thing i need so my option is to add/change the media player

I've not tried the wdlxtv firmware but had a similar issue with my previous NAS not talking to the Live box, I have two Buffalo enclosures now and they work fine.  Any feedback on the firmware?  I might have another go at an upgrade if there are enough additional bells & whistles :)

the ppl behind wdlxtv apparently aren't working on any newer versions - is what i could gather from reading the forums, the last was in Dec 2011
WD did release an update in Jan 2013

after a lot of reading on forums & elsewhere what i could find was -
1. WD doesn't allow read-write access through their Media Player as a policy;
it's a sound policy but someone may need just that so there should be a provision
2. wdlxtv were providing custom firmware to bypass this shortcoming as well as a host of other features but since Dec 2011 have stopped further development
3. Xtreamer Sidewinder does offer the functionality i needed so my quest stopped there
