Sharepoint 2013 - Workflow issues

I have a brand new SP 2013 server with all updates.. Installed Workflow services and configured..

I used SP Designer to create a simple workflow.. email me when a file is created or changed.. and end the workflow.

It runs then suspends with the following:

RequestorId: 8729ceea-054b-8ef8-0000-000000000000. Details: An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the workflow instance. Exception details: System.ArgumentNullException: Value cannot be null. Parameter name: Input at Microsoft.Activities.Hosting.Runtime.Subroutine.SubroutineChild.Execute(CodeActivityContext context) at System.Activities.CodeActivity.InternalExecute(ActivityInstance instance, ActivityExecutor executor, BookmarkManager bookmarkManager) at System.Activities.Runtime.ActivityExecutor.ExecuteActivityWorkItem.ExecuteBody(ActivityExecutor executor, BookmarkManager bookmarkManager, Location resultLocation)

I am not sure why it is not working and it is super basic.. and I am not sure where to troubleshoot from here.

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

It is complaining about a null value.  In the past this is typically a problem with the email used in the workflow.  To test this ensure that the To, CC and From have valid email addresses.
