I have a site that offers a free sample of our product. Currently someone fills out the form and it is written to a sql database on another server. We are going to launch a new site and was wondering if there are any online options through a 3rd party provider that can handle sample requests and allow us to do searches for marketing, such as a chart showing age ranges or a map showing where people requests samples from. <br />

I also want to get away from the single sql database that could go down more easily than a cloud solution. <br />

Sample request form and database options

Databases are organized collections of data, most commonly accessed through management systems including schemas, tables, queries and processes that allow users to enter and manipulate the information or utilize it in other fashions, such as with web applications or for reporting purposes.

Web applications are systems that run in browsers that perform functions normally associated with other client-based programs. One of the most commonly used web applications is email; instead of downloading individual emails to a local machine, the data is shown through a website. Other examples of web applications are collaborative systems like a wiki or an online game.

Web Applications

A Web service is a method of communication between two electronic devices over a network. It is a software function provided at a network address over the Web with the service always on as in the concept of utility computing. A web service has an interface described in Web Services Description Language (WSDL). Other systems interact with the Web service in a manner prescribed by its description using SOAP (Simple Object Access Protocol) messages. There are two major classes of Web services: REST-compliant web services, and Arbitrary web services.
