Lotus Domino - LKMgr Long Held Lock Dump

Hi Guys,

The last week or so we have been having all sorts of issues with domino.
"File Manager - Log file is Full"
Server becoming unresponsive from time to time requireing full system restart.

I have just noticed in the domino console though this error.

LkMgr END Long Held Lock Dump ------------------


I have read up a wee bit about it but don't quite understand.

I thought may be an issue with the transnational logging and after reading some "best practices" I have disabled Trans logging on mail files. But its still occurring.
I have yet to restart the domino server since I disabled Trans logging for the mail files so unsure if maybe a restart is required for change to take effect.

Also the nUpdate.exe always has issues.

05/09/2014 02:37:07 PM  Process C:\Program Files\IBM\Lotus\Domino\nUpdate.EXE (7928/0x1EF8) has terminated abnormally

We see this all though out the log.

I have read that the LKMgr. nUpdate.exe and the indexing are all related?

I am unable to get the Fixup Task is start. Just sits on Initalizing "CPU Utilization 0%"
I try to "Restart" the task but still just hangs their.

Any ideas?

You can start Fixup using the Domino Admin client. Under Files, find the database thad needs to be fixed, and click right.

I tried that and got the following show up in console.

Load Fixup "mail\ckatavich.nsf" >C:\Windows\TEMP\notesA5BA53\rem86796.con

08/09/2014 09:56:53 AM  Database Fixup: Unable to fixup database d:\Lotus\Domino\Data\mail\ckatavich.nsf: The database is being taken off-line and cannot be opened.
08/09/2014 09:56:53 AM  Database Fixup: Shutdown


I am not have the best of luck..

Hmmm...

A. shutdown the Domino server, and run Fixup from the command line, e.g.
     nfixup.exe <filename>.nsf
The Domino executables directory should be in your path, and your current directory should be the Domino data directory.

B. do you have a backup, or is there a replica of the database om some other server or maybe on the local disk of ckatavich's PC? If so, remove the database from the server and recreate it using the replica or backup copy.

Sjef mate I am so confused.

I went ahead and just created a new mail file for the user and redirected the mail to it.

This was all working fine until today when we start getting the LKMgr Long Held Lock Dump again.
And is for the same user again but happening on the new mail file now.....

I don't understand why this is occurring again and to the same user who has a brand new mail file.....

Completely new?? How strange... I could go on guessing, but I am, as you are, baffled...

So i recreated both user and mail file from scratch.
Also found out main database was getting close to the 60Gb mark (have since sorted this)

But system has been running smoothly since. So unsure if recreating both user and mail file sorted or if the .nsf getting close to 60Gb was causing issues.

60 Gb of mail?? You are pulling my leg, aren't you? That IS a lot!

Glad that it is solved, for now. One more case where size matters... ;-)
