"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Is mynewsite hosted on the same or a different server?
Are you using host headers on the server?

I suspect you have both mysite and mynewsite pointed to the same site on the same server, and folks are being redirected to mynewsite in both cases.  (So, for example, folks would be going to 'mynewsite' and the server tells the browser "You can't come here!  Go look to 'mynewsite'."  Hence the loop.)  IF that is what is happening, I'd suggest
1. turning off the existing redirection.
2. creating a new tiny website on the server (I usually call it a stub site), and turn on the host header for 'mysite' -- then configure redirection on this new site to 'mynewsite'.
