Accessing a folder on Web Server

Hi all we have a 2008 Web Server, we have created a site and would like to be able to access a folder using https://www.domain.com/folder.

The reason for this is that we have Some Backup Software that replicates to Offsite Storage, which is the folder that I am trying to create.

Can someone explain how I do this using https, I have created a Virtual Directory, but when I try to connect using the backupsoftware, it errors saying it cannot connect, but I believe I have missed something.

I am using iis7

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Accessing a folder over HTTP or HTTPS for use with an application isn't a best practice, as routing for port 80 and 443 isn't meant for that usage.

The software you are utilizing should have documentation for recommended usage with off-site data, and most access data over VPN and/or FTP.
